The Time Before the MoonThe Time Before the Moon by Kameron A. Williams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A first-class fantasy with perfect pacing...

Author Kameron Williams weaves an interesting young adult fantasy that will captivate the reader’s attention from the beginning. The author paints a compelling and intriguing story involving survival, justice and revenge in a very vivid and convincing way. In addition, the characters are drawn with great credibility and conviction. It’s a relatively fast paced novel that will keep you engaged from the first page to the last.

The book description gives a sneak preview: ‘In the ancient world, when the days were short and the nights were long and moonless, one boy questions the customs of his village—a thing others would never dare to do. He is Omi, and he knows something isn’t right about the place he calls home. Soon his curiosity puts him in danger, and what he learns changes everything. He flees the village, pursued by the wicked hierarchy he’s challenged, its leader desperate to maintain control. Lives are lost, homes are destroyed, and Omi vows to bring justice to the culprits. But to have his revenge, he must first survive the wild.’

Now, if that’s not enough to grab your attention, I don’t know what will. But if you want to find out what happens, you’ll just have to turn the pages for yourself! However, I will say it was well worth the read. It’s my first time reading this author and I must say I was very impressed.

The contrast between tone and content is a characteristic talent of only a few authors. Williams pays as much attention to his sentences as he does to his plots, shifting or consolidating meaning with the use of a single word. His writing is impeccably honed, full of juxtapositions and qualifications that helps to create an atmosphere that will leave you wanting more.

I enjoyed the story, character development, and dialogue. There were plenty of plot twists that I didn’t see coming and that added to the book’s mystique. When I stopped reading to work, I found myself wondering what happened in the book, and replaying parts of the novel in my head to see if I could figure more out. It has been a while since I enjoyed a book this much. It’s a first-class fantasy with perfect pacing.

The Time Before The Moon had every element a good story should have. An interesting plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There’s an abundance of well-illustrated scenes that make you feel like you are right there in the story, and that’s something I look for in a good book. It’s one of those stories that come along once in a while that makes you want to read it non-stop until you get to the end. I’m giving nothing further away here. And this, I hope, will only add to the mystery and enjoyment for the reader.

I’ll be looking forward to reading more from Kameron Williams in the future. I would highly recommend this book. A well-deserved five stars from me.

Arrested MindArrested Mind by H.L. Nida
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hot sex, big hearts, crazy situations and forever friendships…perfect lockdown reading!

Arrested Mind by H.L. Nida is a wonderfully written and richly descriptive novel with brilliantly drawn characters and settings. The author weaves a well-crafted sweet and steamy contemporary romance with intriguing twists and turns that will captivate the reader from the first page to the last. The story had every element a good story should have. An exciting plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There’s an abundance of well-illustrated scenes that make you feel you are right there in the story, and that’s something I look for in a superb book.

From the opening chapter, the reader is dramatically pulled in: “9-1-1, what’s your emergency?” “Um…Hi yes, I’m, my name is Molly Murphy.” I say, trying to remain calm while everything about what’s happening right now is freaking me the f*ck out. I tell myself to speak clearly as I say, “I’m driving down Lawyers Road heading south and I have been assaulted and the person who’s assaulted me is following me,” I spit out. “I am scared, and I need help. Now.”

It’s a well-written contemporary romance with perfect pacing.

This was a captivating read that had me immersed from the beginning. The story flowed from scene to scene with ease, and the author shows exceptional ability when it comes to storytelling. There are plenty of attention-grabbing moments in this page-turner that will take the reader on a spellbinding journey.

There’s no doubt that Arrested Mind is an exceptionally well-written book. However, it must be said that this story is not for the faint-hearted or easily offended. The author’s script at times is razor-sharp and will cut deep into the emotions of its reader. There are scenes of a sexual nature. Nevertheless, the themes and outcome are just as affecting in the arresting contemporary landscape.

I’ll be looking forward to reading more from H.L. Nida in the future. Highly recommended and a well-deserved five stars from me. This is the second novel in the Arrested series.

Captain Quark and the Time CheatersCaptain Quark and the Time Cheaters by William Shatspeare
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mr. Shatspeare splatters copious amounts of satire all over the pages of this quick and funny read.

George Bernard Shaw once said, “The problem with political jokes is that they get elected.” People enjoy political humor because it’s something that everyone can relate to. The public generally blames the government for everything, so everyone basically appreciates humor in politics. In truth, this particular source of hilarity is almost always delivered in a satire-like manner.

It’s generally amusing, and it doesn’t detract from the real issue. In fact, it addresses whatever political issue is at hand. Consequently, there is no shortage of material for political humor. This book is a satire, and a good one. It’s an entertaining, page-turning story that will keep the reader involved. It’s playful, funny, and even a little mischievous here and there.

Mr. Shatspeare splatters copious amounts of satire, parody and spoof all over the pages of this quick and funny read. Highly recommended reading and a well-deserved five stars from me.

A masterclass in storytelling...

More often than not children relate themselves with the characters of a good story. In such circumstances, reading fiction can help them to get inspiration from the characters. These stories often portray real life implications through anecdotes, and as such makes it easier for them to understand the complex aspects of life. Moreover, reading these stories at regular intervals can actually help them to develop a positive outlook towards life, which eventually proves beneficial for good character development.

This was a captivating read that had me engrossed from the beginning. The story flowed from scene to scene with ease, and the author shows exceptional ability when it comes to storytelling. There’s an ample supply of attention-grabbing moments in this page turner that will take the reader on a captivating and mesmerizing journey.
