The Lady by Gary M. Douglas

The LadyThe Lady by Gary M. Douglas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Be your own woman!

Empowered women are those who give themselves permission and authority to stand on their own two feet, making their own decisions. They are not controlling, obstinate or headstrong. They are quietly powerful and love their families with much more intensity, conviction and emotion than when they are unfulfilled and giving their power away.

The Lady by Gary M. Douglas is an empowering book that encourages women (and men) to explore what works best for them. It’s not a book about what a woman should or shouldn’t do. The book shows that when women are strong, they love their families with more conviction, emotion, vulnerability, poise and power because they are confident and recognize their true value.

Highly recommended.

The Ultra Betrayal: A Classic World War II Spy Thriller (A Conor Thorn Novel Book 2)

The Ultra BetrayalThe Ultra Betrayal by Glenn Dyer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A well written spy thriller with perfect pacing...

The Ultra Betrayal by Glenn Dyer is the second novel in the Conor Thorn spy series. Yet again, the author weaves another riveting espionage spy thriller. With intriguing twists and turns it will easily captivate the reader’s attention from the beginning. The author paints a gripping and mesmerizing World War II Spy Thriller in a very vivid and convincing way. In addition, the characters are drawn with great credibility and conviction. It’s a fast-paced novel that will keep you engaged from the first page to the last.

The book description gives a sneak preview: ‘One man’s dark deal with the Nazis could bring the Allies to their knees… Autumn, 1942. Rule breaker OSS Agent Conor Thorn is assigned a mission to help the Allied war effort when a key Swedish cryptographer stationed in England goes missing. Thorn is determined to find him before critical information falls into enemy hands, but when his MI6 colleague vanishes trailing the code breaker to Stockholm, Thorn is plunged yet again into a sinister Nazi conspiracy. Can Thorn stop prized secrets from triggering more wartime carnage? …’

Well, if you want to find out what happens, you’ll just have to turn the pages yourself! However, I will say it was well worth the read. It’s my second time reading this author (The Torch Betrayal - A Conor Thorn Novel Book 1), and I must say I was very impressed yet again.

I enjoyed the story, character development, and dialogue. There were plenty of plot twists that I didn’t see coming and that added to the book’s mystique. When I stopped reading to work, I found myself wondering what happened in the book, and replaying parts of the novel in my head to see if I could figure more out. It has been a while since I enjoyed a book this much. It’s a well written spy thriller with perfect pacing. Not much is as it appears here, which is just the way fans of the mystery, thriller and suspense will want it.

Highly recommended and a well-deserved five stars from me. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

One of Them by Eti Dayan

One Of ThemOne Of Them by Eti Dayan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Heart-rending, poignant, thought-provoking and joyful...

The field of anthropology has long been associated with the study of primitive tribes and exotic cultures. However, Israeli author Eti Dayan sets a unique tone with her debut book “One of Them.”

How other people live their lives has always been a source of great fascination and curiosity. Now with this new book the author invites the reader, sharing her unique experiences and insights, into the Maasai people of Africa.

‘The Maasai are an indigenous ethnic group in Africa of semi-nomadic people settled in Kenya and northern Tanzania. Due to their distinct traditions, customs and dress and their residence near the many national game parks of East Africa, the Maasai are among the foremost African ethnic groups and are known internationally because of their links to the national parks and reserves.’

This is the author’s personal story of how she became ‘One of Them’. It was a heart-rending, poignant, thought-provoking and joyful read. Highly recommended.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Die For Her (Steele Raiders MC) by RB Hilliard

Die for Her (Steele Raiders MC)Die for Her by R.B. Hilliard
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sometimes you have to fight for love, but sometimes you have to die for it...

RB Hilliard crafts a heart-pounding romantic suspense with " Die For Her (Steele Raiders MC)." Arlan Steele has the weight of the world resting on his shoulders. He doesn’t have the time nor the interest to get involved in a relationship. However, when he is introduced to the beautiful Luciana, a strong and independent woman, the author creates an action-filled adventure enlivened by the sparkling chemistry between its well-matched characters.

I enjoyed the story, character development, and dialogue. There were plenty of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, and that added to the book’s charisma. It has been a while since I enjoyed a book this much. It’s a first-class suspenseful romance with plenty of action and drama. Perfect pacing ensures the reader is drawn in from beginning to end.

Die For Her (Steele Raiders MC) is very much an RB Hilliard book, with all of the stylistic touches that entails. I’ll be looking forward to reading more from this author in the future. I would highly recommend this book and give it a well-deserved five stars.

Slater's Vendetta (The Slater Mysteries Book 4)

Slater's Vendetta (The Slater Mysteries Book 4)Slater's Vendetta by T.J. Jones
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Flipping Vegas meets Murder She Wrote...

Slater's Vendetta (The Slater Mysteries Book 4) by T.J. Jones is a well-crafted Private Investigator Mystery. It’s a wonderfully written and richly descriptive whodunit with brilliantly drawn characters and settings. I enjoyed the story, character development, and dialogue. There were plenty of plot twists that I didn’t see coming and that added to the book’s mystique. It has been a while since I enjoyed a book this much. It’s a first-class murder, mystery and suspense with a generous sprinkling of romance.

The contrast between tone and content is a characteristic talent of only a few authors. This author pays as much attention to the sentences as to the plots, shifting or consolidating meaning with the use of a single word. The writing is beautifully polished, full of contrasts and attributes that help to create an emotionally charged and suspenseful atmosphere that will have you entranced.

A well-deserved five stars and highly recommended reading to all fans of Mystery, Detective and Romance.

Connecting Beyond: Observing & Learning Relationships

Connecting Beyond: Observing & Learning RelationshipsConnecting Beyond: Observing & Learning Relationships by Gila Belfair
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One of the most inspirational books I’ve read this year...

In this book, the author tells the story of her life. Embedded within its pages are insights she has gained in her life from personal and professional experience. Her studies of human nature, personal growth, and her own professional development has shaped her into a knowledgeable and wise person when it comes to matters of the heart.

To paraphrase a section of the introduction she states that this book was written for anyone who has shied away, like herself, from building a life with someone, but was, nevertheless, willing to stare that fear in the eye. She wants to convey the message that building a life with someone is possible - for those in a relationship, who feel lost, who feel that something’s not working, who, perhaps, reject their spouses, or even hate them. There are stages and periods in life when it’s natural to feel this way, and there is something we can do about it.

The book contains autobiographical sections interspersed with theoretical commentaries containing insights that stimulate self-awareness, development, and personal growth. Indeed, profound thoughts are explained here in the simplest of terms. That’s all I can say about this book. It is difficult to write a more objective review because the impact the author will have on you will make you see life and its problems in a wise and practical way. The book should NOT be read – it should be absorbed and reflected upon.

This book will help you to clarify your thinking, process your feelings, and make better decisions. If you are you ready to stop drifting through life and design a life you love, this book with help you on your journey. The author has put her heart in the pages of this book and will encourage and give hope to the reader. So many wonderful and courageous people share their experiences through books, and I thank this author for sharing hers.

The overall tone was simply imparting knowledge, personal experience and wisdom in a gentle and generous way. His words will help to better equip you to interpret and handle life in a whole new way, which in turn will bring peace, love and joy into your life. If you are looking for inspiration and encouragement in the face of serious relationship issues (personal or otherwise), this would come highly recommended from me.

No matter what your situation is today, this book will put you on the right path to better things. I’ve been around the block a few times myself and even I found this read to be very insightful. This wonderful new book will show you how to properly tune into life and the simple rules you must follow to achieve this. This by far is one of the best Life Improvement books I’ve read in a long time. The author must be commended for her time and effort for producing such an insightful book. Also, the writing style is friendly which makes for an enjoyable read.

A social worker by training, the author lectures before diverse audiences on The Connecting Beyond model. She also facilitates workshops and conducts individual and couple therapy. She studied Gestalt therapy, couple, and Imago therapy and is a trainer in NLP and guided imagery. She combines these therapeutic approaches and customizes them to each patient's best benefit. I’ve included her bio here because this lady knows what she’s talking about!

Connecting Beyond: Observing & Learning Relationships is a wonderful read that will leave you feeling like a better person for having read it. It’s an impressive work by author Gila Belfair and I’ll certainly be looking forward to reading more from her in the future. I would highly recommend this perceptive and intuitive read. A well-deserved five stars from me.
