Review: HIGHWAY TO JUSTICE, a Mary MacIntosh Novel

HIGHWAY TO JUSTICE, a Mary MacIntosh NovelHIGHWAY TO JUSTICE, a Mary MacIntosh Novel by Maureen Anne Meehan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Gripping Crime Thriller...

Maureen Anne Meehan's Highway to Justice is a fascinating psychological thriller set in rural Wyoming, where FBI profiler Mary MacIntosh investigates a string of killings linked by a frightening calling card: a black widow in lipstick. Dalila Kane, the killer, emerges as both a victim and a vigilante, shaped by her traumatic experience in the foster care system. Meehan expertly balances genuine criminal aspects with emotional depth, drawing comparisons to real-life instances such as Aileen Wuornos. The novel investigates pain, justice, and the fine line between revenge and atonement. Highway to Justice, with its incisive prose and intriguing characters, challenges cultural views about female violence while also providing a striking indictment of systemic failure. A haunting and thought-provoking thriller. Highly recommended.
