Slater's Vendetta (The Slater Mysteries Book 4)

Slater's Vendetta (The Slater Mysteries Book 4)Slater's Vendetta by T.J. Jones
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Flipping Vegas meets Murder She Wrote...

Slater's Vendetta (The Slater Mysteries Book 4) by T.J. Jones is a well-crafted Private Investigator Mystery. It’s a wonderfully written and richly descriptive whodunit with brilliantly drawn characters and settings. I enjoyed the story, character development, and dialogue. There were plenty of plot twists that I didn’t see coming and that added to the book’s mystique. It has been a while since I enjoyed a book this much. It’s a first-class murder, mystery and suspense with a generous sprinkling of romance.

The contrast between tone and content is a characteristic talent of only a few authors. This author pays as much attention to the sentences as to the plots, shifting or consolidating meaning with the use of a single word. The writing is beautifully polished, full of contrasts and attributes that help to create an emotionally charged and suspenseful atmosphere that will have you entranced.

A well-deserved five stars and highly recommended reading to all fans of Mystery, Detective and Romance.

Connecting Beyond: Observing & Learning Relationships

Connecting Beyond: Observing & Learning RelationshipsConnecting Beyond: Observing & Learning Relationships by Gila Belfair
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One of the most inspirational books I’ve read this year...

In this book, the author tells the story of her life. Embedded within its pages are insights she has gained in her life from personal and professional experience. Her studies of human nature, personal growth, and her own professional development has shaped her into a knowledgeable and wise person when it comes to matters of the heart.

To paraphrase a section of the introduction she states that this book was written for anyone who has shied away, like herself, from building a life with someone, but was, nevertheless, willing to stare that fear in the eye. She wants to convey the message that building a life with someone is possible - for those in a relationship, who feel lost, who feel that something’s not working, who, perhaps, reject their spouses, or even hate them. There are stages and periods in life when it’s natural to feel this way, and there is something we can do about it.

The book contains autobiographical sections interspersed with theoretical commentaries containing insights that stimulate self-awareness, development, and personal growth. Indeed, profound thoughts are explained here in the simplest of terms. That’s all I can say about this book. It is difficult to write a more objective review because the impact the author will have on you will make you see life and its problems in a wise and practical way. The book should NOT be read – it should be absorbed and reflected upon.

This book will help you to clarify your thinking, process your feelings, and make better decisions. If you are you ready to stop drifting through life and design a life you love, this book with help you on your journey. The author has put her heart in the pages of this book and will encourage and give hope to the reader. So many wonderful and courageous people share their experiences through books, and I thank this author for sharing hers.

The overall tone was simply imparting knowledge, personal experience and wisdom in a gentle and generous way. His words will help to better equip you to interpret and handle life in a whole new way, which in turn will bring peace, love and joy into your life. If you are looking for inspiration and encouragement in the face of serious relationship issues (personal or otherwise), this would come highly recommended from me.

No matter what your situation is today, this book will put you on the right path to better things. I’ve been around the block a few times myself and even I found this read to be very insightful. This wonderful new book will show you how to properly tune into life and the simple rules you must follow to achieve this. This by far is one of the best Life Improvement books I’ve read in a long time. The author must be commended for her time and effort for producing such an insightful book. Also, the writing style is friendly which makes for an enjoyable read.

A social worker by training, the author lectures before diverse audiences on The Connecting Beyond model. She also facilitates workshops and conducts individual and couple therapy. She studied Gestalt therapy, couple, and Imago therapy and is a trainer in NLP and guided imagery. She combines these therapeutic approaches and customizes them to each patient's best benefit. I’ve included her bio here because this lady knows what she’s talking about!

Connecting Beyond: Observing & Learning Relationships is a wonderful read that will leave you feeling like a better person for having read it. It’s an impressive work by author Gila Belfair and I’ll certainly be looking forward to reading more from her in the future. I would highly recommend this perceptive and intuitive read. A well-deserved five stars from me.

ISSUES by Sharon St. John

IssuesIssues by Sharon St. John
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An age-old theme that speaks to the current audience...

ISSUES by Sharon St. John is a wonderfully written and richly descriptive novel with superbly drawn characters and settings. The threads of storytelling are expertly woven in this age-old theme that speaks to the current audience. Skillfully constructed, this dramatic and suspenseful tale will have you turning the pages from beginning to end.

The story had every element a good story should have. A solid plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. There were plenty of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and that added to the book’s mystique. There’s also plenty of imagery in the writing style that makes you feel like you are right there in the story, and that’s something I look for in a good book. Although, not recommended for the ‘linguistically sensitive’ as profanity is used throughout, and there are scenes of a sexual nature.

What readers might take away from this yarn, is that you're better off doing something healing wise in order to clear out the toxic component of your relationship, even if you're still together. It will free you up to have a better connection, or in the case of an ex, to move on so you don't feel persuasively pulled back into the relationship. While you are yearning for an old relationship, there isn't any room for a new one to enter into your life, one that you have emotional room for.

A well written African American women's contemporary fiction. Recommended.

A well-crafted fantasy that keeps you guessing right up to the end...

Djinn by Sang Kromah poses a decidedly brilliant take on West African folklore and weaving it into a modern fantasy with an enticingly twisted narrative that brings together a wonderful tale of self-discovery.

Djinn is a superbly written and richly descriptive novel with masterfully fleshed out characters and settings. 40 Memorable Life Experiences: 2020 Edition

40 Memorable Life Experiences: 2020 Edition40 Memorable Life Experiences: 2020 Edition by Robert Fear
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Candid, Interesting, Reflective, Self-Deprecating, Sensitive and Witty...

This diverse collection of travel tales from around the world is fascinating in the breadth of its scope. In this anthology, 21 writers share their experiences and have produced 40 short stories. In each case, the authors’ views and focus are centered on varying aspects of the human and physical landscape, each in such a way that they grab the reader’s attention from beginning to end.

The way the authors reveal both the high and low moments, as well as the dangers and the risks that all travelers experience, in various forms, in search for what is new and novel in the world, is both energizing and life-enriching. All writers whose work is featured in this anthology are clearly fascinated by the experience of travel, and by the many wonderful discoveries that they have made along the way.

By the time I had come to the end of the book, I felt that not only had I stood on many a foreign field, and swum in many a foreign sea, but that I had also broadened my horizons by sharing in the heartfelt emotions of the contributors involved. An enlightening read, that is bound to both edify and delight, 40 Memorable Life Experiences: 2020 Edition is a must read for anyone who recognizes the importance of exposing oneself to other cultures and lands.

Writing memoirs is a unique way to cherish your past and present with the future in mind. A well-written memoir makes a splendid gift to your upcoming generations and leaves them with a vivid, personal look at your life experiences. The goal of any traveler should be to create positive memories that last a lifetime. When you recount your travel experience to others, it should invoke in you something that stirs the soul and a longing for the bygone days.

People write memoirs to fixate, analyze, share, or rethink past events. This book refers to important and significant moments in the authors lives. Special mention also to the compiler and editor, Robert Fear. A job well done, sir.

Highly recommended reading and a well-deserved five stars from me.
